With metal bell, 229 € extra

Oboe da caccia after Johann Heinrich Eichentopf
Tenor hautboy. Pitch A = 415 Hz.
Leather covered service tree (sorb tree). Two brass or silver keys. Wooden or metal bell on request.

The original instrument :
Two instruments preserved in the Historical museum of Stockholm. Curved, leather covered hautboys. Metal bells out of hammered brass and german silver. Both bells are marked J.H. Eichentopf, Leipzig 1724.

Johann Heinrich Eichentopf was woodwind and brass-maker in Leipzig during the first half of the XVIIIth century. Various oboes d’amore, hautboys and bassoons from him are still surviving. The date 1724 marked on both bells of the Stockholm oboes da caccia allows to think that they were made in order to play in the Bach Johannes Passion in which the oboe da caccia were mentioned for the first time.
